One of our aims is to foster research and creative multi- and trans-disciplinary engagements. Whether a wine business or hospitality industry professional, we invite you to participate in our communities of inquiry. The community of inquiry model can establish a context that leads to creative questioning, reflection and problem-solving. Communities of inquiry can be compelling fora for professional contacts and expertise exchange by creating a 'sticky' social and educational context where participants engage in various ongoing professional development programs and research projects.

Oenotopia. Over the course of 2010, we are rolling out ideas and tools designed to encourage and enable participation within several inter-connected research strands. Our aim is to foster and facilitate idiscussion on wine that is at once specialist, comparative, cross- and inter-disciplinary, and which draws on the fact that wine and the culture of wine consumption lie at the interface between the natural and social sciences, the present and the past.

Wine in historical and cultural perspective. The aim is to gain some perspective on wine and wine-drinking as ubiquitous and enduring social and cultural phenomena, by bringing together professionals and scholars whose interests and expertise range across disciplines, geographies and time periods.

Wine as an aesthetic object. In these economically challenging times, the world of wine has seemingly become much less 'cultural', and more business-oriented. Whilst we recognize, and actively support the importance of the business aspect, we also aim to highlight, and focus upon the culture(s) of wine. Wine also inspires an extraordinary aesthetical fascination, one we would wish to rekindle and keep alight.

All of our emergent research projects utilize  social media: each project has, or will have, its own Twitter account locus. Twitter-based groups are an invaluable way of quickly sharing ideas, discussing issues, pointing to resources and staying in touch with people who might also wish to come together at our anticipated research project related symposia/conferences.

Conferences will provide practitioners with the opportunity to lead discussion on wine as approached within their field of discipline. Specific information and a call for papers will be issued in due course.

If you are interested in participating in any of the above projects, please contact us outlining how you would like to get involved.
