Fine Wine Academy does not set out its stall as a ’yet another wine school’ that does little more than count in the already fairly crowded wine and hospitality education/certification market. Rather, it positions itself as an innovative and flexible platform for interaction and exchange of ideas that relate to, and bear upon a wide range of issues of concern and interest for wine, culinary and hospitality professionals. We aim to promote research, reflection and encourage continuing education and professional development.

Professional Wine Studies. Wine studies transcend the boundaries of any single disciplinary enquiry. Our approach is trans-historical and trans-cultural, with strong emphasis on the social context. There is a solid multi- and trans-disciplinary dimension to this approach/framework. We believe that this open-minded and involved attitude helps illuminate one’s own work and opens one up to further professional development. We further believe that it is the only credible way ahead in the ever-evolving business of wine and hospitality - one, too, that creates networking opportunities with professionals from a variety of local and international settings. We aim to provide a forum wherein wine and hospitality professionals not only get a chance to make new contacts, but where they can also discuss current developments affecting their work and debate new ideas that may directly influence their success.

We design, develop and manage a variety of timely and relevant public seminars with an aim to place food and wine at the centre of culture, and deepen and extend understanding of food and wine-related issues through academic enquiry . We support and promote an ethical and sustainable approach to food and wine production, supply and consumption.

We currently manage several concurrent professional development (training) programs and research projects. We also plan a number of larger-scope events of interest and relevance in the business of wine and hospitality to be offered across a number of venues in Piemonte, throughout and beyond Italy. Over the course of 2010, we are gradually rolling out a number of ideas and tools designed to encourage a variety of such programs, projects and events.

We blend professional training with research. A number of research projects already exist, and we will be developing these throughout the year. To see which research projects exist and how to participate in them, check the ‘research projects’ page, or simply click here.

Continuing and professional education: training programs. We invite you to explore these options by clicking here. We cordially welcome your interest and your participation.
